Veterans Day 2011

In our job, we are blessed with flexibility in our schedules.  Toys can be invented, designed, and prototyped any day of the week and at any time.

Last Friday, Veterans Day, we were happy to take the time out of our work day to go to the Horizon House in downtown Indianapolis and serve lunch to our homeless neighbors.  A group of about 15 of us, through the organizational support of Connection Pointe Christian Church of Brownsburg, served lunch and were able to take a tour of this amazing facility.  Horizon House is not a shelter, but a day center that offers professional and hospitable services that serve 1,500 neighbors daily.

We served up shepherds pie, rolls, fruit cups and banana pudding and drinks to about 120 hungry people.  The few we got to chat with were just trying to get their lives back on track.  There was not a great deal we were able do in the short time we visited, but we know that our help and time shows them that the community cares.

“If I have been of service, if I have glimpsed more of the nature and essence of ultimate good, if I am inspired to reach wider horizons of thought and action, if I am at peace with myself, it has been a successful day.” -Alex Noble
